Clear Writing Tips

I can’t for the life of me remember where I first saw the link to this website. Sadly, some undeserving blogger from my list of 50 will have to go unmentioned.

There’s a short list of very simple (some might say obvious) guidelines for writing good copy written by Tiffani Jones. Worth of linking to and passing on.

Check them out here.

Beautiful, Smooth Line Illustrations

I’ve seen some of Rubens LP work filtering into the cosmic internet more and more. How he achieves such beautiful illustrations from simple lines is a true testament of his art.

Much of the art I’m drawn to has layers of texture and grit. I love that look and feel in our clean, modern, computer-driven world. These illustrations, however, grab me as well, for the evocative curves and grandiose shapes. Brilliant.

Simple Complexity

I saved this video to my hard drive the moment I first saw it, and only now re-discovered it to my total pleasure and enjoyment. I’ve often wanted to learn Flash for this VERY reason, to animate subtle environmental elements over my photos to greater, better effect. Still, seeing these in a video was even more alluring and I find myself watching this over and over again—not even sure why.

The simple child’s figure—back turned toward the audience—really grabs me. S/He is so still, so unmoving, so cold in environments with simple cues of life. It’s intriguing to me. I want to know. I want to make my own.
